I'm a writer. In elementary school, I wrote short novels and drew comics instead of paying attention in class.
I'm also a musician. I played trumpet for much of middle & high school, and earned high achievements for doing so. Music gave me a community, and gave me the drive and work ethic.
I'm also a video creator. During COVID, the demand for videos and virtual content was at an all time high. I soon served as my high school's lead videographer, and my editing skills eventually translated into bigger projects.
I'm also a filmmaker. After watching life-changing movies, I became inspired to create films myself. And I created several short films, bringing together my classmates. Eventually I invested in my camera, my Sony FX30, thinking I'd use it exclusively for movies...
I'm also a photographer. I discovered my love for photos only after I purchased my first camera. I took photos for fun, until my friends asked me to take their graduation photos. They loved it, I began getting recommended, and now I run a professional contract service.
I'm also a social media content creator. All my artwork landed me a role in UC Berkeley's marketing team, where I combined all my creative strengths into promotional university content.
So what does all this mean? I have the music theory background to co-compose an original score for my films. I have the directing background to tell my photo subjects exactly how to pose. I have the social media background to know how to effectively market my videos.
I believe it's important for an artist to be well-rounded. So that's what I strive for. But what do I really want to do...I want to make movies that change the world. But I realize I have much to learn before I'm ready to make such a statement.
I never faked anything. I never created art solely for money, or attention, or prestige. So what do you think the real reason is?
